and an advocate for student academics and veterans, musician and legislative aide.

The Veterans Band off
Corpus Christi, Texas

The Veterans Band of Corpus Christi,
Texas is a musical organization found
and directed by Ram Chavez, a Vietnam
Veterans and former music educator.
The Veterans Band was found on June 3,
1986 and since then has performed at
many veterans', community, state,
and national events.

during the 77th Session. Sen.Truan was very
successful bringing veterans cemeteries
and veterans' homes.

Ram the principal
Ram Chavez worked for the Corpus Christi
Independent School District for 24 years.
Eleven of those years were at Cunningham
Middle School. Ram was always working with
kids and looking for ways to encourage them
to continue their education.

Lt. Commander Juan M. Garcia, USN
Lt. Cdr. Juan Garcia is a graduate of Harvard John F.
Kennedy School and the Harvard School of Law. He
is also a 2000 White House Fellow. Presently he
is station at Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi,
Texas as an aviation instructor.

Dr. Hector P. Garcia conducts a meeting sometime in the Spring of 1989.
Ram and Janie Chavez are in attendance. The veteran standing next to
Dr. Garcia is Jesse Escobedo, a Gulf War Veteran.

Dr. Cleo came to support the Veterans Band of Corpus Christi fund
riser to help the band participate in the Presidential Inaugural
Parade in Washington, D. C. on January 20, 1989.
